I’m not Trans-ing my Child, are you?
I’m a mum with young school-aged children. I’m supposed to spend my energy making meals, checking homework, carpooling to soccer, but we have a problem in Richmond that requires our full attention amid our busy lives. The claim that children can be born in the wrong body is now pervasive across the country. According to an article published on the National Post 1, “bilateral mastectomies for gender reassignment surgery have risen sharply, from 536 in 2019, to 985 in 2023, according to data by the Canadian Institute for Health Information” The surge among kids seeking gender transition and care is a reality more families in B.C. are facing every year. Unsurprisingly most parents in Richmond I’ve talked to either don’t know this is happening or believe it to only be happening to a small fraction of teens. From what I gather, parents naively think it’s not happening in our schools, our counselling offices, and our hospitals. The reality, however, is that it’s happening and yes, we need to talk about it. TRANSGENDERISM TEACHING IN SCHOOLS & QUEER ACTIVISM ‘Transgenderism’ teaching is fully embedded in our all of our schools now. You can see the new Transgender flags have replaced the former Pride flags. Administrators paste promotional posters in the hallways in full compliance and support. It is embedded in the B.C. Physical Health Education curriculum and implemented in everyday lessons at the discretion of your child’s teacher. At the core is Queer Activism. Queer activists/scholars have quietly worked for the past 30 years to legitimize their field of study in academia and are now successfully pushing forth their deviant worldview through school district policies and classroom activities. Queer activism isn’t about sexual preferences, it’s about deconstructing reality, specifically the nuclear family. Their goal is the “queering” of our society. Children are easier to convince than adults and thus the push to “educate” our children happens in our schools. B.C.’s comprehensive resource guide called SOGI 123 is the philosophical manual that allows educators to make “recommendations” regarding the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identities of K-12 students.
SOCIAL CONTAGION In her seminal work, Irreversible Damage journalist Abigail Shrier investigated this emerging story: Teenage girls in social circles are suddenly expressing that they are born in the “wrong body”. Puberty is a human rite. What many parents remember as a rite of passage (puberty), has now somehow become an insurmountable hurdle. Kids are now on TikTok telling other kids that they can choose their gender and that it may in fact not match their biological sex. Instead of teenage girls being taught, “what you are feeling is normal and is a part of becoming a woman”, young girls are being given alternatives. With little psychological evaluation outside of the personal acknowledgement that they “feel” different, young patients are being given puberty blockers and in cases have had their healthy breasts removed.
